Midnite Martini | Denver Burlesque Photography

I have been spending a considerable amount of time in Denver recently, and had the pleasure of photographing Midnite Martini last month inside Lannie’s Clocktower Cabaret. Midnite has a weekly show at Lannie’s, and is known for her aerial burlesque performances. She and I decided to go with a 1920s style for the images, and I loved working inside the fancy cabaret. What a perfect backdrop for these shots!

If you’re in Denver, be sure to contact me if you are interested in having portraits taken! I specialize in boudoir, pin up, burlesque, and maternity photography.

With all these wedding and engagement posts, I feel the need to spice it up a bit on the blog today! Feast your eyes on burlesque dancer Ula Uberbusen, formerly of Salome Cabaret in Knoxville, and currently a resident of Brooklyn, NY. While we all miss her down here in the South, we’re all delighted that she is enjoying the Big Apple and making the most of being involved in their burlesque scene. Ula came to the studio and had her hair done by Shana Michelle Taylor, and impressively did her own makeup for the shoot. We had a lot of fun playing dress up with her stage costumes and in the studio’s wardrobe closet. With some Hollywood-style shots, a few pin ups, and lots of sexy boudoir photos, Ula’s session is one-of-a-kind!

So excited to share these fun and flirty photographs! Bowling Green burlesque dancers Honey Duvet and Bebe Brown came to La Photographie studios in Nashville to immortalize their sister act! While playing dress up, the two ladies also channeled different looks from classic Hollywood starlet to retro Josephine Baker. We had a blast and I can’t wait to see these gorgeous girls perform!

Yard Dogs Road Show | Nashville Performance Photography

It was my distinct pleasure to photograph the Yard Dogs Road Show performance at Exit/In in Nashville on September 29. I’ve seen the group perform in Nashville before, and they are incredible! Yard Dogs are a group of traveling performers offering burlesque, vaudeville, cabaret, and sideshow numbers all backed by a carnivalesque band of gypsies. It is truly a sight to see. In case you missed it, or if you just want to relive the magical evening, here are my best shots for you to enjoy.

I had the pleasure of photographing the lovely miss Violet Vixxxen at La Photographie studios in preparation for Music City Burlesque’s upcoming show, Boolesque at the Belcourt on Friday October 29. Some of these shots will be used as promotion for both La Photographie and Music City Burlesque. With her classy lingerie and gorgeous styling, the Violet Vixxxen really shines in these pictures!

Lux-O-Matic is one of my favorite people to photograph. I’ve taken dozens of pictures of her dancing for Music City Burlesque, and she’s participated in many La Photographie shoots in the past, including the infamous Bettie Page session. Despite being a popular go-to model in Nashville, Lux had never done a photoshoot as a classic pin up girl. When she hired me for this shoot, I was more than happy to get her “Pinned Up” and take some boudoir photographs in the process. Her makeup is by Crystal Rose from Sephora. Enjoy!

Adventures at Bonnaroo – Part Two: Dr. Sketchy’s

For those of you who’ve never heard of Dr Sketchy’s Anti-Art School, head over to their web site to get a good idea of how the idea started. Our local Nashville chapter is spearheaded by Miss Lolly Pop and her husband Larry the Panty Boy, who are the same dynamic duo who present Miss Lolly Pop’s Coterie at Bonnaroo. This year, the Bonnaroo Festival decided to feature Dr Sketchy’s at the Academy Tent. Dr Sketchy’s held nightly sessions for Bonnaroo attendees, and the sessions were very well-attended. White Lines paper donated the sketch pads, and members of Miss Lolly Pop’s Coterie dressed in interesting costumes and posed for artists and wannabes alike. Here are some of my best shots from Dr Sketchy’s!

Adventures at Bonnaroo – Part One: Burlesque

I was asked to return to Bonnaroo this year as the photographer for Miss Lolly Pop’s Burlesque Coterie. Since I had so much fun last year (you can see some of the pictures here), I was more than happy to participate again! I will be doing a series of posts, but first and foremost I want to show off the live burlesque images I took this year. I was able to get some unique perspectives on the show, so some of these burlesque shots are a bit different for me. Stay tuned for Parts Two-Five of my Bonnaroo blog posts!

Dr. Sketchy’s Nashville featuring Red Hot Annie

Red Hot Annie is a Chicago burlesque performer who ventured to Nashville last month to guest star in Music City Burlesque’s Spring Break show. She was also the special guest of Dr Sketchy’s Nashville at the 5 Spot. Here are some shots of Red Hot Annie, as well as some of the fantastic artists who come out to Dr Sketchy’s every month to support the local art scene, have a beer or two, and get some live drawing experience.

The Goon Presents: Burlesque

On December 11, Nashville was host to two popular and successful burlesque dancers: Angie Pontani and Roxi Dlite! Eric Powell, the comic book artist behind the Goon, threw a spectacular burlesque show at the Belcourt Theater featuring these two ladies and some of Nashville’s own amazing burlesque dancers. From the front row, I caught some great photographs. Below: Bianca13, Angie Pontani, Lux-O-Matic, Sadie Twist, Truvy Trollop, Vera Va Voom, and Roxi Dlite.

Bonnaroo Madness!

Regular readers of my blog know that I love working with Music City Burlesque. So when Miss Lolly Pop asked me to come to Bonnaroo with her burlesque troupe as their official photographer, I jumped at the chance! We stayed on site in Manchester for 5 days and 5 nights, through the rain and thunder, tornado warnings, humidity, and the hot, hot heat. Our awesome campsite was located right in Centeroo, behind the Sonic Stage.

I spent those 5 days photographing the dancers of Miss Lolly Pop’s Burlesque Coterie, who are all members of Music City Burlesque, including Miss Lolly Pop and Larry the Panty Boy, Diletta Delight, Bella De Ball, Monique Honeybush, Kicky La Rue, Miss Kitty Lee, Leela Sophina Queen of the Air, and Vera Va Voom. We had so much fun running around Bonnaroo, them in feathers and sequins, me with my trusty camera capturing every moment. Here are some of the best pictures from Bonnaroo!

Spring Break or Bust!

I had the pleasure of photographing Music City Burlesque at their Spring Break or Bust show at the Belcourt last Friday. I was front and center, which is where I like it! The show was hosted by Miss Lolly Pop with sounds from the Lavamen. Thanks ladies for being such great subjects.

MCB: Love Stinks

Music City Burlesque performed their Anti-Valentine’s Day show on February 6th at the Rutledge. Although the girls and I didn’t get a chance to take portraits before the show, I got some very cool performance photographs from the front row. La Photographie is always pleased to work with MCB; these ladies are the epitome of class, sass, and style.

Dr Sketchy’s Nashville

Belle Bombshell posed for Dr Sketchy’s Anti-Art School in July, and I was there to snap a couple of pictures. Nashville definitely has its share of talented artists. The 5 Spot hosts Dr Sketchy’s once a month; this month on August 23rd, starring Miss Frankie Apple. Click here to go to Dr Sketchy’s web site.

Carnies

I am so glad I did this shoot! Renae Morton, who owns R Squared Salon, and her husband Brannon of Hardcore Glamour Society, put together an amazing group of models, performers, and stylists to realize their carnival-inspired concept. The goal was to get one big group shot that will be a promo ad for a TBA fashion show in October. After a preliminary “Tea Party” shoot at R Squared (look for it later this week) involving melting cupcakes and fancy hats, we all met at Printers Alley in downtown Nashville to create this large-scale carnival set. The big group shot is still under wraps, but the solo shots I took for the performers are ready to be seen.

Big thanks to R Squared Salon, Brannon Morton, Datura Glamour and Couture, Amber Wilburn, Music City Burlesque, models Sulivan and Ashley, my awesome assistants Bernie and Beth, and everyone else involved. We pulled off a great shoot, and we all had a blast doing it!
