I have been spending a considerable amount of time in Denver recently, and had the pleasure of photographing Midnite Martini last month inside Lannie’s Clocktower Cabaret. Midnite has a weekly show at Lannie’s, and is known for her aerial burlesque performances. She and I decided to go with a 1920s style for the images, and I loved working inside the fancy cabaret. What a perfect backdrop for these shots!

Recently I traveled to Las Vegas to attend the WPPI (Wedding Portrait Photographers International) conference. I learned so much and met some truly fantastic photographers, including the admins of the Boudoir Forum, of which I am a member. Jen Williams and Leah Aubrey are fantastic ladies who excel at boudoir photography and I was happy to meet them, and to participate in the Boudoir Forum’s Shoot Out in the Barbie Suite at the Palms Hotel. This suite is epic, and I can’t wait to show off all of the photos I took that night. For now, we will start by showing off Bijou’s photographs. Bijou is a model in the Las Vegas area and really knows how to work the camera. Her makeup is by Kelly Terise. Enjoy!

With all these wedding and engagement posts, I feel the need to spice it up a bit on the blog today! Feast your eyes on burlesque dancer Ula Uberbusen, formerly of Salome Cabaret in Knoxville, and currently a resident of Brooklyn, NY. While we all miss her down here in the South, we’re all delighted that she is enjoying the Big Apple and making the most of being involved in their burlesque scene. Ula came to the studio and had her hair done by Shana Michelle Taylor, and impressively did her own makeup for the shoot. We had a lot of fun playing dress up with her stage costumes and in the studio’s wardrobe closet. With some Hollywood-style shots, a few pin ups, and lots of sexy boudoir photos, Ula’s session is one-of-a-kind!

Tabitha and I were introduced by a mutual friend a few months ago, when she booked me for her September wedding. As part of her wedding package, she chose to have some boudoir photographs taken as an early wedding gift to her fiance. Tabitha brought in some very sexy clothes, which we photographed in the studio, with hair by Shana Taylor and makeup by Alicia Schenk. We then went to the nearby home of Tabitha’s cousin to get some kitchen shots, since Tabitha brought some yummy cupcakes as props. We also got some lovely pin up style photographs next to the pool. I can’t wait to photograph Tabitha’s wedding in a few months!

Spring is such a great time for women to take glamour photographs, and Mallory is no exception! This gorgeous gal is moving to NYC for the summer to intern at Redbook. Her impending adventure reminds me of my own foray to NYC in 2002 when I interned for Paper Magazine. I am so excited for Mallory and the exciting work and experience she has ahead of her. To mark this transition, she decided to have some photographs taken. Shana Michelle Taylor did her hair and Crystal Doughtie did her makeup. We drew inspiration from Ellen Von Unwerth’s glamourous Guess-ad photographs, and brought in some retro touches to soften the edges. Enjoy!

Photographing my friends is one of the best parts of my job. I’m always so flattered when they entrust me with capturing their good sides 😉 I’ve known Alison for many years, and always hoped to work with her. She brought lots of fun clothes to the studio for us to choose from, and she also brought hair and makeup artist Chelsea Nichol, who worked with us on set to ensure Alison looked her prettiest. We ended up getting a very edgy + rock n roll glam style with these pictures, and we all had a lot of fun in the process!

I’ve photographed my friend Crystal countless times. In fact, she was one of the first girls who volunteered to pose for me when I was getting started in photography. I’ve also done her maternity photographs and photographs of her child and family. I was so excited when she scheduled a session as a surprise birthday gift for her significant other. Crystal is a makeup artist with whom I work quite frequently, so she did her own makeup. Her hair style is by Laura Doughtie. Crystal started with a 1920s look and worked her way into a vixen-style boudoir, then a softer, more intimate style with an edge. Now that her significant other’s birthday has passed, I can share these stunning shots with you. Enjoy!
Exotic Glam: Reanna | Nashville Boudoir Photography
Reanna had a lot of unique ideas when she came to me for her custom boudoir photography session, including incorporating a bindi into her makeup, as well as facial jewels. She brought colorful saris and some bellydance accoutrements. Alicia Schenk created a beautiful makeup style for Reanna, using dramatic greens on her eyes. Reanna has a mysterious beauty and I’m so glad I could capture it in photographs for her and her husband.

Some of you may already know Rambo Sambo as one of the tough-as-nails Nashville Rollergirls. Rambo also has a sexy side, as evidenced in these boudoir photographs! With retro makeup by Eryk Datura and a glam hairstyle by Shana Taylor, Rambo really pulls off the glamorous Hollywood look, as well as an edgier look with red heels and black lingerie. Enjoy!

Kallisto has been talking about working with me for pin up pictures for quite some time, so I was pleased when we were able to schedule her session last month. We had two ideas in mind: a Hollywood glamour style shoot, and then a more burlesque-style “Glitterbomb” shoot featuring lots of rhinestones, sequins, glitter, and shiny things. I think we pulled both concepts off nicely, and I can’t wait to work with Kallisto again!

Between the Sheets: Dana | Nashville Boudoir Photographer

I’ve been waiting patiently to share these images with everyone…Dana had a calendar made for her beau for the holidays, and gave it to him last week (she couldn’t wait!), so now I can post these without spoiling the surprise. Dana had very specific inspiration about what she wanted with her glam session, namely the “Last Sitting” of Marilyn Monroe by photographer Bert Stern from 1962. Those images of Marilyn are so iconic, and while we didn’t aim to directly recreate every detail, the shots did serve as our main inspiration. Dana is stunningly gorgeous, and with the help of hairstylist Shana Michelle Taylor and makeup artist Eryk Datura, she was able to pull off the look flawlessly. Enjoy!

Can I just say how awesome Pam is!?! I was immediately inspired by her energy and great attitude, and my hair and makeup team of Shana Taylor and Eryk Datura fell in love with her immediately. Pam did two looks for her glamour session, the first was a 60s-style Sophia Loren style, the second was a 20s-era Ziegfeld girl. She rocked both styles flawlessly! I mean, she truly looks like Sophia in these photographs. As a bonus, Pam invited her husband Jason to the studio to mix in a few couples shots a la Sophia Loren & Cary Grant. Although Jason had no idea what he was in store for (suprise full-service on-location fashion shoot!), he was a good sport and a great model.

So excited to share these fun and flirty photographs! Bowling Green burlesque dancers Honey Duvet and Bebe Brown came to La Photographie studios in Nashville to immortalize their sister act! While playing dress up, the two ladies also channeled different looks from classic Hollywood starlet to retro Josephine Baker. We had a blast and I can’t wait to see these gorgeous girls perform!
