Chris and Katrina’s Rock n’ Roll Wedding

October is such a lovely month for weddings here in Nashville and the weather gods made no exception for Chris and Katrina, who got hitched two weeks ago on a sublimely gorgeous day! Between the classic cars and hot rods greeting you at the entrance to The Cannery Ballroom, the rockin’ bands playing the reception, these two put on a one-of-a-kind party surrounded by the love of their friends and family.

Here’s a little preview to whet your appetite and stay tuned for the full blog post!

Sweet Love: Dana & Matt | Nashville Wedding Photographer

One of the most rewarding parts of my job is when a treasured client hires me again and again. That is the case with Dana, who is one of the sweetest, most beautiful women I’ve ever met. When she introduced me to Matt for the first time, I could feel the chemistry between them, and I’ve had the pleasure of photographing their engagement session and their wedding.

Dana & Matt were married on March 3 at Cellar One in downtown Nashville. With a chill in the air and a cloudless sky, Dana & Matt made promises to one another with their friends and family witnessing. It was a special honor to capture these moments for them. After the ceremony, we took a short limo ride to get some amazing bridal party and couple shots at Vanderbilt University. Then we went back to Cellar One for a rocking reception.

Congrats Dana & Matt, and thank you for including me in your wedding day.
Also, a very special thanks to Vickie, for always being the best assistant.

This wedding was simply lovely! Lesleigh and Mike were married on a beautiful October day at Benton Chapel, and their reception was held at the Legends Club in Franklin. I met Lesleigh and her bridesmaids at Lucy Pop Salon while they were getting ready. All the bridesmaids had pink streaks put in their hair to match the bride’s. Thankfully my rainbow-colored hair fit right in! The style of this wedding was flawless, down to the pink wedding dress, pastel flowers, gray bridesmaids dresses, and the 4 tiny pink wedding cakes! I had a blast photographing this wedding, and Lesleigh and Mike’s sweet love really shines in these photos. Enjoy!

David & Wendi were married in Nolensville, Tennessee at the Party Barn on October 1. This fantastic wedding had lots of unique touches, including a bicycle theme, handmade crafts, and brightly-colored shoes. I am honored to have photographed David & Wendi’s big day, and happy to share it with you now!

This post is going to be epic! All of the style, DIY work, details, entertainment, and LOVE at this wedding really make the photos pop. Cat & Jim were married at the Loveless Cafe on September 25 and had a carnival theme decorating the reception. Wedding planners at DandyLion Events provided event coordination, while many of the little details were created by Cat herself. Performers included fire eater Freya West and bellydancers from Bodhicitta. Apart from the style, the obvious love between Cat & Jim really made this wedding enjoyable. If happiness is catching, everyone at this wedding got the love bug!

I was absolutely delighted to photograph Tabitha & Roy’s wedding in my hometown, Smyrna. These two lovebirds, along with their family (sons Rayden and Barron were so adorable!), celebrated with an emotional ceremony and a fabulous reception. I loved the red, brown, and white color scheme, as well as the thought that went into the reception decor. The dance floor was hopping all night, and the guests had a great time at the photo booth. Congrats Tabitha & Roy!

Bethany & Doug were married at Houston Station on September 3, 2011, and what a wonderful and fun wedding this was! Ever unique, Bethany wore a black wedding dress, and asked her bridesmaids to wear white. They included their little dog in the ceremony, and we wandered around the industrial area for portraits. The wedding details were lovely: birdcages, flamingos, and lots of black, white, red, and yellow. The reception music was provided by Hillbilly Casino, and there was some impressive moves on the dance floor. I loved working with these two love-birds…or should I say “love flamingos.”

Yellowstone Adventure: Sam & Nicole | Wyoming Wedding Photography

My very good friends Sam and Nicole were married 2 weeks ago at Sheepeater Cliffs in Yellowstone National Park, and it was one of the most beautiful experiences I’ve ever had. My husband and I were among the small ceremony guest list of only 8 people, and I was asked to capture it all with my camera. It’s always special to photograph friends’ weddings; providing the timeless images that are treasured by many for years to come can be very personal. This was magnified by the journey to Wyoming and Montana, the endless snow, and the amazing views of Yellowstone. To get to the wedding site, we took a small hike, and Nicole’s lady friends held up a sheet so she could change into her wedding dress in the wild. Sam wore his suit under a warm coat, and put on his fedora just before the ceremony, which was administered by their good friend Mason. We then gathered at Old Faithful Inn to celebrate with dinner and drinks. It was an unforgettable weekend, and I am proud to show off Sam and Nicole’s unconventional and personalized wedding.

As a continuation of the Fairy Godmother post below, here is the wedding of Rebecca & John. They were married on October 8, 2010 at Almost Heavens Wedding Resort in Gatlinburg, TN. The Smoky Mountains provided the perfect setting for this sunny ceremony. John and Rebecca’s little daughter Leela was a big part of the day; when it came time for John and Rebecca to seal the ceremony with the traditional kiss, Rebecca handed Leela to the minister, which made everyone laugh. The kid-friendly reception was filled with candy and bubbles, and even a big screen movie projection to occupy the little ones. It was a great evening, and I’m so happy for the newlyweds. Enjoy!

My lovely friend Rebecca was married last month in Gatlinburg, TN (watch for the wedding blog soon). Before her wedding, we did a very special photoshoot with her Aunt Dolly at a family home in Sevierville. Since Dolly is not only Rebecca’s aunt, but also her godmother, Rebecca had the idea to do a shoot where Dolly acts as her fairy godmother, who has come to get her ready for her big day. Here is the story for you to enjoy!

These photographs are extra special and I’m so happy to share them with you. I’ve known Coral for about 10 years now. We went to MTSU together and have made many memories together over the years; this wedding might be the best memory yet. She and Todd are so in love… it’s apparent from the emotional shots of the ceremony that they are meant to be together. It was truly an honor to capture their wedding. With the Cumberland River and downtown Nashville as the backdrop, these two tied the knot in front of an intimate crowd of friends and family. Congratulations Coral & Todd!

Beth and Shaun were married earlier this month at Savannah Woods Plantation outside Memphis, TN. Theirs was a simple and lovely Sunday afternoon wedding, with a stunning retro bride, a dashing groom and an intimate cast of family and friends. Under the trees of Savannah Woods, Beth and Shaun took their vows. After a short and sweet reception, we headed to downtown Memphis for a post-wedding bride and groom photoshoot. We shot on a rooftop, city streets, and finally down by the river under the gorgeous autumn sunset. Congratulations Beth & Shaun!

Masked and Ready: Vickie & Will | Tennessee Wedding Photography

What a delight to have photographed this awesome wedding! Vickie is my go-to wedding and portrait assistant; if you’ve had your picture made by me, more than likely Vickie was at my side. She’s a fantastic person, and Will is a great guy; together they make a lovely couple. If you haven’t seen their Day of the Dead engagement pictures, be sure to check them out! Vickie and Will were married on her parents’ farm in Spring Hill, TN on October 9, 2010. The reception was masquerade-themed, and the reception was full of dancing and laughter. Vickie and her friends hand-decorated all of the masks, which were given to each guest. The weather was perfect, and the photographs really reflect the fall splendor of the day. Congrats you two!

Greatest Show on Earth: Stephanie & John | Nashville Wedding Photography

A few words to describe Stephanie and John: in love, creative, fun, beautiful, and more than a little whimsical. These two lovely Nashvillians were married last Saturday at the Fontanel Mansion in Whites Creek, TN, and they managed to put on an amazing event full of personality, art, and entertainment.

The carnival theme was threaded throughout the decor and events, providing a fun and carefree vibe to the evening. With a trapeze performer, hula hoopers, a carnival barker, amazing choreographed dances, beautiful lights and flowers, two photo booths, a stunning red carpet, and red-and-white-striped swag decorating the stunning venue, Stephanie and John couldn’t go wrong. I’m sure I’m not alone in saying that this was the most well-executed large-scale wedding of the season, and every guest in attendance was wowed along with me. Congratulations love birds! It was a pleasure to photograph this day for you.

Bethany and Chad were married on September 11 at Montgomery Bell State Park in Tennessee. I joined the bride at her home to photograph her getting ready, then we proceeded to the State Park for portraits and the ceremony. While photographing Bethany on a small foot bridge, she explained the significance of the location: it’s where Chad proposed to her. This couple was so sweet, and their families and friends were wonderful to work with and fun to photograph. I wish Bethany and Chad a lifetime of happiness and more!

Family Affair: Anjeanette & Brian | Nashville Wedding Photography

I have to start this blog post by saying that I felt unbelievably special to be part of this private, personal wedding. I’ve known Anjeanette for about a year now; we run in some of the same artistic circles in Nashville. She’s a super cool woman with an amazing eye for art and photography, so when she asked me to photograph this day, I was happy to agree. She and Brian are obviously so in love, and the wedding included their two children, Rocko and Oonagh (cool names, huh?). It was held last Friday at the Rock Castle historic home in Hendersonville, and although it was terribly hot, most of the time we were in the shade, which resulted in these golden, sparkly photographs. The style was pure DIY class, with Anjeanette wearing a net veil that she made herself and a perfect white dress (bought from Goodwill!), carrying a handmade curly willow bouquet; Brian wore a white shirt with a handmade black boutonniere; the children were in white and black, and they even wore black and white Chucks! Anjeanette and her family love birds, so she created some chickadees from fimo clay, and they adorned the bouquets and bouts. With such an adorable family as the subject, I couldn’t go wrong with the pictures, and I am so proud to show them off. Congratulations Anjeanette and Brian! I can’t wait to photograph your reception in sweet, cool October.

When Lindsey of DandyLion Events in Nashville, TN contacted me about doing an alternative bridal portrait session to promote her business, I was definitely game! In addition to wedding planning and coordinating, Lindsey works at Katy K’s Ranch Dressing part-time, and was able to find a fabulous Hellbunny dress that looks great as a black wedding dress. Lalie was our tough girl model, Eryk Datura did her makeup, Shana Michelle Taylor of No Limits Salon did her hair. Lindsey brought along the white rose bouquet, the engagement/wedding ring, and two different veils. We shot in downtown Nashville at dusk, and these are the wonderful results. Thanks to the whole team, and to my intern Savannah, for making it all come together!

Country Cute: Jamie + Brian | Tennessee Wedding Photography

I photographed Jamie at a recent Pinned Up session, and we worked so well together that she decided to hire me as her wedding photographer! Jamie and Brian were married at a private home in Winchester, TN, near Tim’s Ford Dam. With many of the fun photographs taken on a boat dock, I must say it was quite an adventure. Jamie and Brian’s families were very sweet and accommodating, and Jamie insisted that I change from my normal “wedding uniform” of dark clothes and shoes into a more casual dress with flip flops. I had so much fun shooting this wedding, and I know they did too.

Sweet Vintage: Alena + Brian | Nashville Wedding Photography

Alena and Brian were married on Saturday May 22, 2010 at Events @ 1418, an incredible venue with a rooftop view of downtown Nashville. The couple was inspired by 1940s Hollywood glamour, which really shone through with the bride’s dress, the cake design, and the decor. Photographing this wedding was a real treat; Alena and Brian are so in love, and their families are very supportive of their union. The lovely ceremony took place in the reception hall, and I had a wonderful time capturing all of the emotion and love that went into the day. This blog post has a lot of photographs, because I am so proud of the way they turned out. A big congratulations to Alena and Brian. Best wishes on your new life together!
